Many business theories have been built on the assumption that people are rational investors. In other words when we make decisions, we carefully consider the options, assess probabilities, weigh the trade-offs, and select logical, defendable alternatives. The work of Kahneman and Tversky (and many others) showed that isn’t true. Instead, people are subject to over two hundred cognitive biases that impact our choices every day. For example, more people buy earthquake insurance right after an earthquake has happened. This is called recency bias, where we place undue weight on recent events in assessing the chance of another event in the future.
In this webinar, we will introduce you to a few of cognitive biases, through interactive discussions. We plan to demonstrate the bias in action, highlight its impact on our decisions, and talk about how we can counteract it.
Join us for what we hope is a fun and engaging webinar.
