Abstract: This paper explores learnings from two recent IT project experiences. The major point is that IT projects can and should be evaluated like other investment decisions. Even for IT implementation efforts, DA can help by providing strategic direction. DA framing tools (strategy table) can really focus the decision. You should not accept the usual IT refrain of "give us resources and we will do good things.” IT projects usually provide tangible cost reductions, as well as soft benefits that can be roughly monetized. It helps to make these clear and explicit. Keywords: technology, strategy table strattab, framing framestruc, framing tools framtool, alternatives generation altgen,
