Relationships First

We view our interactions not as transactional, but as a way to build and strengthen our relationships. We treat our colleagues with the same respect that we would expect in return. We have fun and learn together. We share knowledge capital. We advocate passionately, but respectfully by seeking to understand, providing direct and open feedback, and remaining loyal to the absent. We always have each other’s backs, ensuring that our support and loyalty help us succeed as a team.

Take Ownership

It’s OUR society. We are each empowered and encouraged to move the society forward and make it serve SDP needs and interests.  We each take ownership in coming up with ideas, working them in collaboration with appropriate colleagues and within relevant guidelines, and see it through to completion.  We each lead and follow as appropriate based on the situation and context.




Practice Excellence

Whatever the circumstances, we determine the right approach and apply high skill and craft to deliver.  Whether operations, change management, visionary leadership, communications, marketing, or strategic decision making, we apply appropriate best practice. We welcome the opportunity to develop our skills outside the decision-professional domain.




Answer the Call

SDP relies heavily on the contributions of its members. There are always more things to be done than time and resources allow. To that end, we are generous with our time, talent, financial, and other resources, prioritizing allegiance to SDP whenever acting on its behalf. We do not act in merely our own self interest, we act in the interest of the vision and mission, realizing that our common interest serves us all. We listen for opportunities to help and volunteer. We seek out ways to contribute to SDP and make an everlasting impact on the world more broadly. By advancing our mission, we believe that a rising tide can lift all boats.
