The App Store Monetization team is seeking an analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of in-app purchase analytics. In this role, you'll partner with cross-functional teams to deliver critical commerce metrics and actionable platform-level insights that directly empower developers and foster their success on the App Store. We are looking for an individual who is deeply passionate about uncovering growth opportunities and deriving actionable insights from data, coupled with a profound understanding of emerging mobile commerce trends. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in conducting in-depth quantitative analysis within the digital commerce landscape, demonstrating a highly collaborative mindset and a drive for impact.

Description

As an IAP-focused analyst on the App Store Monetization team, you'll help to drive the development and execution of our commerce metrics and insights roadmap as well as support evangelization and enhancement efforts of the In-App Purchase conversion funnel. In close partnership with cross-functional teams, you will empower internal stakeholders and developers to more deeply understand and optimize in-app payment flows on the App Store.

Responsibilities
  • Defining and developing metrics to accurately measure and highlight the effectiveness of purchase flows, collaborating closely with commerce, data science, and product teams.
  • Generating, packaging, and effectively communicating data-driven insights to empower developers in optimizing their in-app purchase strategies through scaled channels or ad-hoc support.
  • Collaborating with the Business Intelligence team to create and train internal stakeholders on impactful data visualizations while partnering with the Product team on the developer tools roadmap.
  • Working alongside cross-functional teams to develop actionable insights that optimize the developer onboarding experience for successful in-app purchase integration.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in a data analyst, business analyst, or similar quantitative role, specifically focused on digital commerce or e-commerce analytics.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with advanced proficiency in data collection, organization, analysis, and dissemination of large volumes of data using tools like SQL, Excel, and Tableau (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights and communicate them effectively through compelling narratives, presentations or strategic recommendations.
  • Proven track record of proactively driving projects forward that rely on cross-functional deliverables and partnership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise within the mobile app ecosystem, specifically in reporting, analyzing, and optimizing app monetization strategies and payment flows, including (but not limited to) in-app purchases.
  • An adaptable self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments, exhibiting exceptional critical thinking skills and the ability to strategically navigate evolving business challenges.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; JD or MS/MBA a plus.
Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $149,700 and $225,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Position Description Summary

The Senior Manager, Portfolio Insights & Analytics will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and performance of portfolio management processes in support of R&D. Working closely with the Director, Portfolio Insights & Analytics and the Director, Portfolio Decision Strategy, this position is responsible for overseeing portfolio master data, ensuring adherence to standard portfolio processes, and delivering comprehensive performance reporting. In addition, this position provides hands-on decision analysis capabilities, with an explicit opportunity to build decision analysis skills over time.

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Portfolio Master Data Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of portfolio master data.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency with portfolio data classification and definitions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to update and validate data as needed.

Standard Portfolio Processes:

  • Document, socialize, and continuously improve standard portfolio management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance Portfolio Management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with established processes and guidelines.
  • Provide training and support to team members on portfolio management best practices.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Implement robust performance monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to analyze portfolio performance and identify risks, trends, opportunities, and trade-offs.
  • Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with strategic objectives to assess portfolio progression and value contribution.
  • Lead generation of standard PRISM Portfolio Executive Reporting materials on a monthly basis.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate portfolio and decision insights effectively to key stakeholders and senior leadership.

Portfolio Tool System Admin:

  • Become a Super User of Advanced Portfolio Analytics Tool (Planview Advisor).
  • Act as primary liaison between I&T, Vendor, and Users to help troubleshoot, understand user requirements, and determine technical solutions/enhancements.

Decision Analysis & Workshop Support:

  • Provide analytical and tactical support for Decision Analysis workshops, including preparation, in-session support, and post-workshop analysis and modeling.
  • Support structured decision-making for selected program and project-level decisions, including scenario, basic modeling, and sensitivity analyses to evaluate strategic options and uncertainty.
  • Support development of analytical summaries and documentation of key assumptions and decision rationale for governance discussions.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Data, or related discipline (required); Advanced degree such as MBA or equivalent business qualification (preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in R&D portfolio management, business analytics, data science, or related field.
  • Experience working in a global biotech organization with understanding of drug development lifecycle and commercialization process (required); global pharmaceutical market and competitive dynamics (strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills including problem definition, hypothesis generation/testing, and solution proposition.
  • Knowledge and experience in portfolio management software and affinity for leveraging new technology, automation, and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).

  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work productively within cross-functional teams and support collective goals.
  • Proven experience in managing large datasets and ensuring data quality.
  • Experience synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information into clear insights.

Working Environment
  • Work Model: Hybrid (minimum 3 days/week in office)

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with senior leaders across R&D, Commercial Development, Finance, and Business Development.
