Dr. Howard Raiffa passed on July 8, 2016 at the age of 92.

 

Dr. Raiffa helped create and then continued to contribute to the field of Decision Analysis for more than 50 years.  His influence continues today through the work of his many students and colleagues, continuing to improve the rigor and usefulness of Decision Analysis across the globe. 

 

The Raiffa-Howard Award for Organizational Decision Quality was created in 2014 to honor his contributions to our field along with Dr. Ron Howard.  Dr. Raiffa and Dr. Howard were present for the inaugural award presentation at the 50th Anniversary Gala of Decision Analysis in San Francisco on November 8, 2014.  Today, our society continues the search for excellence in Organizational Decision Quality and awards only those elite companies or organizations which can show they have met the highest standards in each of the elements of Decision Quality, fundamentally defined by Drs. Raiffa and Howard.

 

Thank you, Dr. Raiffa, for your brilliance, creativity, and perseverance over the past 50+ years.  As decision professionals, we owe Dr. Raiffa a debt of gratitude for providing us a means to improve the world we live in through better decision making (see Dr Raiffa's biographie and list of contributions here).
