Introduction and Background
The SDP 2017 DAAG Conference and Pre-conference SDP Workshops will be held on
March 16-17 and March 15 respectively at the Hyatt Centric French Quarter Hotel, New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Decision Analysis Affinity Group (DAAG) is an informal group of decision professionals who gathered
annually since 1995 to share ideas on the application and practice of decision
analysis. Their only organization structure was the committee that planned the
following year's conference, Therefore the term "DAAG" is mostly used
to describe both the event and the people that attend it. When SDP formed, a decision was made to neither duplicate nor compete with this practitioner conference.
"DAAG” is now the annual conference of SDP, organized and run by SDP. It brings
together decision professionals and decision makers from multiple industries to
share ideas, successes, and failures. In addition, each year SDP organizes
a day of workshops on the day prior to, and in the same location as the
conference.
The organizing committee
for the SDP 2017 DAAG Conference is chaired by Jim Felli of Eli Lilly Co., and Leslie Lippard of Genentech. |
Conference Theme
The theme for the SDP 2017 DAAG Conference is:
Building Better Organizations: Culture, Choices, Change
Improved understanding and appreciation of
cultural influences and constraints, the ability to develop and expeditiously
act on acceptable creative choices, and the wherewithal to actively affect and
adapt to change can have dramatic consequences on organizational decision
quality.
The intent is that this
year’s presentations and expositions will facilitate or directly lead to attendees’
success in helping their organizations improve talent development and
retention, increase operational efficiency, improve business agility, improve
resource allocation, heighten adaptability, and better align business strategies

Lab session: This year conference will include a "lab
session” in which attendees will be able to have focused conversations with
certain presenters. This of it like a poster session – but with the capacity for
deeper discussion, demos, etc. by decision professionals for decision professionals.
The objective of the lab is focused knowledge sharing and learning, it is not meant
as a marketing venue for vendors.
Social Activities: The logistics committee has done a fabulous job of preparing the conference venue, facilities, amenities, and evening activities. A conference dinner on Thursday night is included in the conference fee, as are breakfast and lunch during the conference. Additionally, we will kick off the conference with a welcome reception at the NOLA Brewing Company on Wednesday night.
