Applications in Aerospace: Decision Quality and Mission Command

Abstract: In large-scale projects and programs, many decisions are made and often the choice in one decision impacts the value and choices that should be made in another decision. However, if this linkage is not recognized, significant value can be lost. In this presentation, we describe one of these problems and identify techniques for more reliably identifying linkage and dealing with it appropriately. Mission Command, a decision-making framework first developed in the military, will be discussed in the context of identifying and dealing with decision linkage.
